Traumatic Brain Injury

Our Traumatic Brain Injury Program provides an atmosphere of individualized therapy, comfort and support for families and their loved ones who have sustained a brain injury. Our team of therapy specialists works closely with the patient and family to provide the best opportunity for return to the community.

At Shaughnessy-Kaplan, patients begin the rehabilitation process while having access to a full range of medical specialists and diagnostic tests. Our interdisciplinary team focuses on treatments that address physical dysfunction, cognitive issues and social concerns. All treatment centers around each patient's personal goals and seeks to minimize activity limitations.

Program Features
Physician-led, specialty rehabilitation team which includes rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, therapeutic recreation specialists, rehabilitation aides, neuropsychologists, social workers, and program managers.
Rehabilitation unit specifically designed to meet the needs of brain injured patients. Fully equipped therapy gym with state-of-the-art equipment adjacent to the patient care unit.
Intensive individual and group therapy services led by licensed therapists.

Focus on social, vocational and community reintegration issues as well as physical issues with the Patient and Family as integral members of the rehabilitation team.

Extensive Patient and Family education programs and support services.

Our outpatient traumatic brain injury program provides an interdisciplinary focus for patients who have completed their inpatient program or are just beginning the rehab process after a brain injury. Our team of experienced physical, occupational and speech-language therapists provide high quality, patient- centered care for individuals with mild to severe brain injuries.
