Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation
Loss of function in the hand or arm is often far more devastating
to a persons life than one would imagine.
Even a simple injury to your hand or arm can leave you unable
to care for yourself, unable to work, and in pain. Only the
very best care will assure optimal recovery of the use of
your hand and arm.
Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehab Physical and Occupational Therapy
at Salem and Peabody are staffed with Occupational Therapists
with advanced skill in upper extremity rehabilitation.
We have Certified Hand Therapists at each center who guide
all of the treatment our patients receive.
Certification in Hand Therapy is voluntary. It requires advanced
study and training in surgical procedures, post operative
treatment plans and the intricate anatomy of the hand and
arm. Only after passing a comprehensive examination is a therapist
qualified to be a CHT.
Most hand surgery procedures are delicate, often requiring
microsurgical techniques. It is critical that your therapist
has thorough knowledge of these technically complex surgical
techniques to know when to move forward and when to hold back
in your rehabilitation process.
At Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehab, our Occupational Therapists
meet those standards, so you are assured of the highest quality
in Hand Therapy Service in the region.
