Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital benefits from 7th Annual Golf Tournament at Gannon Municipal Golf Tournament

Lynn, Mass. (July 24, 2007) – The Knights of Pythias, Peter Woodland #72 located in Lynn recently held it’s 7th Annual Golf Tournament at Gannon Memorial Golf Course benefiting the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital (SKRH) in Salem, Massachusetts. This year’s event held on May 7th had over 100 golfers participating. The tournament raised over $17,000 to benefit patient programs at the hospital. Dick Cronin, the President of the Knights of Pythias and long-time supporter of Shaughnessy-Kaplan was extremely pleased with this year’s event. “ This year’s event was our best golf tournament yet. The weather was great, the golf course was super and the sponsors and players had a grand time. We support Shaughnessy-Kaplan because they help so many people right in our own community. A special thank you goes to all of the sponsors and participants who made this year’s event a huge success.”

Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital is a 160-bed long-term acute care hospital in Salem serving the citizens of the North Shore and eastern Massachusetts. The hospital provides two levels of inpatient care including long-term acute care (LTAC) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). Shaughnessy-Kaplan also has 6 outpatient rehabilitation clinics that provide comprehensive rehabilitative services in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy and swallowing & speech therapy. The Order Knights of Pythias was founded in 1864 by J.H. Rathbone. The organization was established on the principals of friendship, charity and benevolence. For close to 140 years the Knights of Pythias has extended the hand of friendship to many who have been in need. Since it formed a partnership with Shaughnessy-Kaplan, over $500,000 has been raised for the patients and programs at the hospital.
