Prizes were awarded to the lead performers in various categories. Top finishers were: 1st place, John Kinnee of Ayer, Ma.; 2nd place, Matt Shaffer of Lynn, MA.; 3rd place, Kurt Schmid of Marblehead, Ma.
Salem, MA – Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital and B&S Fitness, a Salem-based fitness company, co-hosted the 4th annual Down and Dirty Duathlon at beautiful Lynn Woods on Saturday, October 4th.
Nearly 80 athletes showed up on a sunny, fall morning to participate in this fun-filled event. The annual race, which draws participants from various age groups and fitness levels from across the region, consists of a 2.5 mile trail run, a 5.9 mile mountain bike ride and another 2.5 mile trail run. Participants were treated to a full breakfast buffet courtesy of Jules Catering and free massages by Body & Soul. Staff from Shaughnessy-Kaplan’s sports medicine division were stationed throughout the course to provide first aid to the racers.
