Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Our Pulmonary Rehab Program offers comprehensive rehabilitation for patients with various stages of lung disease. Patients participate in progressively intensive therapy, according to their tolerance and physical abilities. Patient and family teaching are key components of the program.

The goal of our Pulmonary Rehab Program is to increase physical strength, endurance and pulmonary function, and to return the patient to the community with the highest independent functional level possible.

Program Features
Immediate access to acute care medical specialists and diagnostic tests.
Skilled care for patients requiring medical management services including dialysis telemetry monitoring, frequent suctioning, high oxygen needs, IV therapy or complex wound management.
Specialty rehabilitation team led by Board-certified Pulmonologists. Team may include rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation aides, psychologists, social workers, and program managers.
Fully equipped therapy gym with state-of-the-art equipment adjacent to the patient care unit.
Active physician monitoring and intervention; intensive nursing care.

Therapy programs individually tailored to each patient's need and tolerance.

Extensive patient and family education programs and support services.

Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program has been in existence for over 20 years and continues to achieve excellent patient outcomes. Our program is led by the physicians of North Shore Pulmonary Associates, Inc., (978) 745-4489.

Patient comfort is an important part of the recovery process. All patient rooms are semiprivate and have bathroom facilities, free televisions and telephones, private closet space and large windows. Family members are always welcome and serve and important role in the rehabilitation process.
