Voice Disorders Clinic for individuals with vocal dysfunction.
The Clinic is led by Speech-Language Pathologists who provide
expert evaluation and treatment for voice disorders of all
types.
Common Indications of Voice Problems
First impressions are often formed from "how" as well as "what"
a person says. We rely on our voices in ways we don't appreciate
until something goes wrong. Does your voice speak well for
you? Do you experience
 |
• |
Rough or hoarse voice. |
| |
• |
Vocal fatigue- voice "worn out"
at the end of the day. |
| |
• |
People mistaking your age or sex by the
sound of your voice. |
| |
• |
Losing your voice when you get a cold or
allergy attack. |
| |
• |
Sounding older than you feel. |
| |
• |
Giving up on activities that involve your
voice. (e.g. public speaking, singing, conversing with
friends) |
You may benefit from a Voice consultation if you experience
any of the above symptoms.
Videostroboscopy Evaluation
The Voice Clinic, in conjunction with physicians from North
Shore Ear, Nose and Throat Associates, Inc., provide Videostroboscopy
evaluations to assess voice and swallowing disorders. This
evaluation is conducted in the physician's office at Salem
Hospital and involves inserting a scope into the vocal tract
to clearly visualize structure and function during normal
activity.
Most insurances cover Voice services provided by a Speech-Language
Pathologist with a physician's prescription. For more information
